Event ballroom with coloured LED uplights washing the walls and drape

Uplighting Rental in New Orleans

Uplighting is the cheapest way to change how a room feels, and the easiest to get wrong. We rent LED uplights in New Orleans programmed to one exact colour — brand-matched for a corporate session, blush or amber for a wedding — instead of six fixtures that are almost the same shade.

Battery fixtures go where there is no power: historic Quarter courtyards, draped walls and centre columns. Wired fixtures run the long walls where we can hide cable under drape.

How many uplights does a room need?

Count the perimeter you actually want lit — usually the two long walls and the wall behind the head table or stage — and place a fixture every 8 to 10 feet. A 60' x 40' ballroom lit on three sides lands around 16 to 20 fixtures.

Fewer, spread thin, reads as spotty rather than subtle. If the budget is tight it is better to light one feature wall properly than to circle the whole room at 15-foot spacing.

Delivery, setup and strike

Gear rolls from our Hammond warehouse on a truck timed to your dock window, is installed and tested before doors, and is struck by the same crew at the end of the night or the next morning, whichever your venue allows. Venue dock fees, union labor and overnight parking are quoted separately when a room requires them.

Uplighting rental questions

How much uplighting do I need for a wedding reception?
For a typical New Orleans reception ballroom, Abstract Productions plans one LED uplight every 8 to 10 feet along the walls being lit, which is usually 16 to 24 fixtures. We work from your floor plan so the head table, cake table and dance floor get the emphasis.
Can uplights match my exact wedding or brand colour?
Yes. Send a hex value, a Pantone reference or a fabric swatch and we program every fixture to the same value so the wash is consistent, rather than eyeballing the colour fixture by fixture on site.
Do uplights need to be plugged into the wall?
Not necessarily. Battery uplights run 10 to 20 hours on a charge and leave no visible cable, which is why they work in historic venues and outdoor courtyards. Wired fixtures are used where cable can be hidden and the event runs long.
Can the colour change during the event?
Yes. With wireless DMX we cue a warm, low wash for dinner and a saturated colour for the dance set, either on a timed cue or on your call. That programming is included when we operate the lighting.
